What is BLADEone bringing back this winter?

BLADE’s October announcement restores a seasonal option for New York–Florida travelers who want a small cabin and private-terminal access without arranging an entire aircraft. Flights will be operated by USAC Airways 695, an Aero subsidiary. BLADE is part of Joby Aviation. BLADE / Joby Aviation ↗

The appeal is strongest for one or two people whose dates fit the timetable. Our assessment: the decision turns on the complete journey—getting to the departure point, making the connection and reaching the final destination—not the seat price alone. A family or group should compare its combined ticket cost with a whole-aircraft proposal for the same trip.

Our semi-private flights guide explains that distinction. For a flight built around your own schedule, compare the separate New York–Miami charter and New York–Palm Beach charter planning guides.

Where does BLADEone fly? The confirmed route map

The network uses Westchester as its New York gateway, with separate nonstop flights to the two Florida airports. The map also shows how the advertised Manhattan helicopter connection fits into the journey. BLADE / Joby Aviation ↗

Manhattan passengers can use BLADE Lounge West at West 30th Street and 12th Avenue. BLADE ↗ BLADE advertises an approximately 12-minute helicopter connection to Westchester; travelers may also begin directly at HPN. Confirm whether the helicopter is included in the fare you select. BLADE ↗

When do the first flights depart?

BLADE’s published booking schedule lists the following southbound departures. These are dated examples, not a promise that both routes run every day. All times below are Eastern. BLADE ↗

Check the current BLADE schedule for your outbound and return dates. A useful itinerary has to work in both directions; an attractive outbound departure does not establish a convenient return.

How much does BLADEone cost?

BLADE’s season page advertises the following flight-pack entry prices. Both offers link to a waitlist; neither is a confirmed single-ticket quote for a particular date. BLADE ↗

BLADEone advertised flight-pack pricing in USD; terms and availability require confirmation
Advertised productPublished starting priceStatus on October 16
20 Flight PackFrom $2,100 per seatJoin waitlist
10 Flight PackFrom $2,500 per seatJoin waitlist

Before comparing a pack with an individual booking, request the full payment commitment, eligible departures, taxes and fees, seat availability, expiry rules and cancellation terms. Also establish which travelers can use the pack and how a helicopter connection is charged. A low advertised starting price is useful only if the dates and conditions fit your travel.

For a group, compare the total for everyone traveling. Four individually priced seats, for example, should be compared with a written charter total for four passengers, the same airports, similar times and the required baggage. Our charter cost guide explains the items to include.

What is the cabin like—and what should you pack?

Aero lists its ERJ135 with 16 seats and Starlink Wi-Fi. Its fleet guidance says the aircraft has no overhead bins, so personal items need to fit beneath the seat. Aero ↗ The BLADEone announcement describes a single-seat layout giving each passenger both window and aisle access. BLADE / Joby Aviation ↗

BLADE’s season page lists two checked bags totaling up to 100 lb for the jet. The helicopter allowance is tighter: one carry-on up to 25 lb and a personal item. Check your selected jet fare’s cabin-baggage terms and confirm any additional luggage arrangements before combining the two legs. BLADE ↗

That difference deserves attention on a winter stay or family trip. Decide whether you will travel light, arrange an approved alternative for baggage, or start at Westchester. Give the provider the actual bag count and dimensions; do not rely on a generic description such as “standard luggage.”

Where could BLADEone expand? Eight markets worth examining

Our shortlist focuses on places where a well-timed flight could make a two-to-four-night getaway easier. We would examine winter sun, northern summer weekends and departures built around a resort stay, starting with limited seasonal trials. These eight destinations, proposed travel patterns and the map are PJS editorial ideas; none is an announced BLADEone service.

Eight original PJS market hypotheses; proposed seasons and service patterns are editorial ideas
PJS market ideaDistance from HPNThe service we would test
Vero Beach, Florida (VRB)870 nmWinter weekends. Test whether private-terminal access and a small cabin can attract repeat Florida travelers. Breeze already serves HPN–VRB, so the case must rest on the complete experience and willingness to pay a premium. City of Vero Beach Regional Airport ↗
Key West, Florida (EYW)1,070 nmWinter long weekends. Offer a direct arrival for travelers bound for Key West, avoiding a separate road journey from South Florida. Compare the complete trip with existing airline options and obtain aircraft-specific payload and baggage approval. Florida Keys & Key West tourism council ↗
Hilton Head Island, South Carolina (HHH)628 nmSpring and fall golf weekends. Build around the island’s golf and beach appeal, with a coordinated resort transfer. Test room-and-seat demand together and establish how golf bags affect the aircraft mission. Hilton Head Island tourism bureau ↗
Asheville, North Carolina (AVL)536 nmSelected autumn weekends. Start with the Blue Ridge fall-travel proposition, then assess whether demand extends to other seasons. Compare departure times and the final mountain drive with the traveler’s existing alternatives. Explore Asheville ↗
Traverse City, Michigan (TVC)566 nmA short summer season. Pair lake-country stays with the region’s food and wine appeal. This would test a summer counterpart to Florida winter travel; the key question is whether customers will book both directions at a sustainable fare. Traverse City Tourism ↗
Portland, Maine (PWM)216 nmSummer coastal weekends. Target travelers combining Portland’s dining scene with time on the Maine coast. On this short sector, measure the entire journey—including the HPN connection and onward drive—before making a time-saving claim. Visit Portland ↗
Burlington, Vermont (BTV)206 nmSeparate ski and lake-weekend trials. Evaluate winter resort transfers and summer Lake Champlain trips as different products. The short flight puts particular weight on convenient departure times, ground transfers and sports-equipment handling. Hello Burlington ↗
Greenbrier Valley, West Virginia (LWB)365 nmResort-led departures. Explore a small series of flights aligned with stays at The Greenbrier, which identifies LWB as a nearby gateway. A hotel partnership could help aggregate bookings; test that interest before committing to regular service. The Greenbrier ↗

Our first two tests would be Traverse City and Greenbrier Valley. Traverse City would examine whether a northern summer product can complement the Florida season. Greenbrier Valley would examine whether a focused resort partnership can assemble enough paying customers for selected departures. We would seek evidence of demand for both the outbound and return flights before advocating a wider timetable.

This is a qualitative shortlist, not a traffic forecast or a claim that the routes are commercially unserved. Before a launch decision, an operator would need to evaluate airport permissions, aircraft performance, baggage, ground handling, disruption recovery and trip economics. The proposed seasons describe how PJS would test each idea; they are not provider schedules.

Who should consider the announced service?

Start with the actual dates, number of seats and final destination. BLADEone merits a look when the timetable fits and private-terminal access solves a meaningful part of your journey. Whole-aircraft charter merits a comparison when your group needs different timing, a different airport or exclusive use of the cabin.

  • Check the return first. Confirm that both directions work before committing to the outbound flight.
  • Price the complete journey. Include applicable fees, the helicopter if selected, and transfers at each end.
  • Match the terms to the trip. Read the selected fare’s change and cancellation conditions and confirm baggage or pet arrangements directly.

Use BLADE’s official service page for seat availability and booking. For an alternative itinerary, our Westchester airport guide and Miami-Opa-locka airport guide explain the private-airport planning questions.

Frequently asked questions

Does a BLADEone ticket give me the whole jet?

No. This is a by-the-seat service on a published schedule. If your priority is exclusive use or a tailored departure time, compare whole-aircraft charter for the same passengers and itinerary.

Are the eight expansion destinations available to book as BLADEone flights?

No additional BLADEone services are established by this article. The expansion map is a PJS editorial exercise. Check the provider’s current schedule for the routes and dates it actually offers.
