Which NICHOLAS AIR card should you compare?
The four published cards address different buying decisions. RISE uses deposits, BLUE purchases hours tied to an aircraft type, STEEL focuses on G600 access, and LITE trades some scheduling flexibility for a different program structure. Confirm which version is currently being offered to you. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
| Card | Published structure |
|---|---|
| RISE | Deposits of $200,000, $350,000, $500,000, or $1 million |
| BLUE | 15, 30, 60, or 100 hours in a specific aircraft type |
| STEEL | G600 access, standalone or alongside another program |
| LITE | More flexible departure windows and blackout dates |
These are entry structures, not the total price of a year’s flying. Ask for the proposed aircraft, rate sheet, and current agreement before using the deposit or hour block as your budget.
Who is the program most useful for?
Our strongest fit case is a traveler who expects repeated trips but wants to decide carefully how much cabin flexibility to buy. If most journeys involve the same passengers and bags, start with an aircraft-specific illustration. If the party size changes substantially, ask for a mixed-aircraft annual plan.
Do not buy a larger category just because one hypothetical trip might need it. Price that exceptional trip separately and compare it with using interchange. Equally, do not choose a small aircraft solely for its hourly rate when it cannot comfortably carry the usual group and luggage.
What can change the effective hourly cost?
The FAQ lists a one-hour daily minimum including taxi time, a flat six minutes for taxi, and the possibility of a fuel surcharge tied to a Jet A index. It also distinguishes non-expiring hours from an hourly rate guaranteed for 12 months. That makes rate renewal a separate question from whether time remains in the account. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
Ask the representative to bill a realistic short round trip line by line. Then repeat the calculation for a longer journey and for a date after the first rate year. A card can look different when minimums, interchange, and a future rate adjustment are included.
- What aircraft type and occupied rate does this proposal buy?
- How are taxi time and the daily minimum applied to multiple legs?
- What is the current fuel adjustment and how often can it change?
- What happens to the value of remaining funds when rates reset?
How should you assess flexibility?
Get program-specific change and cancellation terms. The FAQ describes cancellation charges when the company incurs an expense and says some programs allow notice as short as 12 hours to avoid a fee. It does not establish one universal free-cancellation rule for every card. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
For LITE, place your actual holiday dates and latest acceptable arrival times in front of the representative. A flexible-departure product is most useful when you really can accept the change. For two parties traveling separately, request the rules and costs for simultaneous aircraft instead of assuming a general access promise answers that need.
Ask how pet carriers, golf clubs, and other awkward items affect the assigned aircraft. An advertised maximum seat count and an advertised baggage allowance should not be added together as though every maximum were available on the same flight.
Which alternatives should you compare?
Compare Jet Linx for a card organized around local bases and flyExclusive for deposit-based Jet Club access. Magellan Jets offers another way to compare category and aircraft-type preferences.
Our conclusion: the range of card structures gives you several ways to match recurring travel, but the best choice depends on the actual contract and mission mix. We have not tested its flight service or obtained a negotiated rate; this is an assessment of the published offering.
Frequently asked questions
What is the difference between RISE and BLUE?
RISE is deposit-based; BLUE buys a block of hours in a specific aircraft type. Request the current interchange rules for either proposal. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
Do non-expiring hours mean rates never change?
No. The FAQ separately describes a 12-month rate guarantee. Ask how remaining time or money is treated after a rate change. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
Does NICHOLAS AIR publish a universal hourly price?
The card page invites travelers to request pricing. Compare the actual aircraft, card structure, applicable fees, and current agreement. NICHOLAS AIR ↗
