What is the main difference between NetJets and Flexjet?

The main decision is which provider’s specific program fits your trips; there is no single NetJets-versus-Flexjet price or access promise. Ask each sales team to name the product, aircraft type, service area and contract length in its proposal.

Which aircraft access should you compare?

Choose the cabin your normal missions require, then price exceptions separately. Buying access to a large fleet is less useful if your agreement does not cover the aircraft you regularly need.

Flexjet’s July 2026 comparison guide lists aircraft including the Phenom 300, Praetor 600 and Gulfstream G650/G700. NetJets’ Share page describes access across different jet classes and conditional upgrades. These describe program possibilities; ask what your purchased level actually includes. Flexjet ↗ NetJets ↗

Give both providers the same passenger count, bag dimensions, pet requirements and overnight-flight needs. Ask whether a requested larger cabin changes the hourly debit or needs separate approval. Our aircraft category guide helps define that brief.

How do you compare the full cost?

Compare the complete cost over the proposed term, including what happens when you use fewer hours. An occupied hourly rate alone omits the fixed commitment.

NetJets describes management fees, occupied hourly charges and variable fuel components. Flexjet’s fractional page similarly separates acquisition, management, flying and fuel costs. The applicable charges depend on the buying model. NetJets ↗ Flexjet ↗

  • Request the initial payment and every recurring charge in one schedule.
  • Have each provider calculate your actual routes, including taxi time, short sectors and cabin changes.
  • Identify which rates can change during the agreement and how adjustments are calculated.
  • Request a lower-use scenario, with the treatment of unused hours and termination shown explicitly.

For broader budgeting context, see the private jet cost guide. It supplies context, not a substitute for either program’s proposal.

Does either provider offer better short-notice access?

Compare the booking rule that applies to your dates and product, rather than the shortest response time in an advertisement. NetJets’ Share page advertises as little as 4–10 hours; Flexjet’s fractional page publishes a 10-hour response. These descriptions do not establish identical conditions. NetJets ↗ Flexjet ↗

Ask both to walk through a normal weekday, a holiday departure and a same-day change. Record any notice changes, permissible departure shifts and replacement-aircraft conditions. For a card comparison, start again with the card rules: Flexjet’s published card notice can be as little as five days, illustrating why ownership access cannot be assumed for a trial product. When does each provider belong on your shortlist?

Shortlist both for a stable recurring schedule, then decide around the agreement and cabin access. Neither provider earns an automatic win from its brand, advertised fleet or a low hourly figure.

For regular short trips plus occasional international travel, ask whether separate long-range flights would be more practical than committing all travel to a larger aircraft category. For a family whose plans change each season, put unused hours and the ability to change the commitment ahead of optional hospitality benefits.

Read the NetJets review and Flexjet review to build separate questions for the two proposals. These are editorial shopping scenarios, not claims that either provider will accept a particular arrangement.

What should you resolve before signing?

Resolve exit, renewal and replacement terms before selecting either program. Have the provider identify the earliest exit date, valuation method for a purchased share, sale-related deductions, and any amounts that remain payable after notice.

Also ask who can use the account, whether simultaneous trips are allowed and how an aircraft substitution affects essential cabin requirements. A guest traveling alone or two executives departing different cities can create a different access request from the owner’s usual trip. If you are still deciding whether to prepay at all, use our jet card versus on-demand guide before comparing annual contracts.

Frequently asked questions

Is NetJets cheaper than Flexjet?

A universal price winner is not established. Request matching aircraft access and calculate the full term cost, including fixed fees, flying charges, unused hours and exit treatment.

Do both offer alternatives to buying a share?

Yes. Their published program information includes lease and card options. Availability and the terms offered for your location require confirmation. NetJets ↗ Flexjet ↗

Will I always fly on the same aircraft?

Do not assume that buying a share reserves one registration for every trip. Ask how aircraft assignment, substitution and access to other cabin categories work under your agreement.

Which is better for a first private flying program?

Compare the commitment you can confidently use. A card may provide a smaller trial, but assess its notice periods and access limits before treating it as a preview of ownership.
