What are you buying in each model?
Separate fixed-rate access from a deposited balance. Surf On Demand describes a prepaid fixed-rate card; Paramount Business Jets describes a deposit-based brokerage program. A shared label does not make their pricing or guarantees interchangeable. Surf On Demand ↗ Paramount Business Jets ↗
| Decision | Jet card or prepaid program | On-demand charter |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | Review the initial payment, renewal, and unused-funds terms | Assess the payment and cancellation terms for each trip |
| Pricing | May be fixed-rate or market-priced, depending on the contract | Request a current aircraft-specific trip quote |
| Access | Any guarantee depends on notice, area, dates, and other conditions | Availability depends on aircraft that can be confirmed for the trip |
| Flexibility | Check aircraft upgrades, service boundaries, and peak periods | Compare offered aircraft and providers on each request |
| Administration | One program may simplify recurring requests | Each quote needs a consistent review process |
When does a jet card deserve a closer look?
A card is worth evaluating when your repeat travel fits the program’s aircraft, geography, notice periods, and commitment. Predictable access conditions may be useful, but only when they match the trips you actually take.
Start with a year of expected routes and dates, then ask the program to price them under its actual billing rules. Include short flights, peak periods, trips outside the usual area, and any change in cabin size. If your travel is uncertain, examine what happens to unused funds or hours.
On-demand charter can be a useful comparison for occasional trips or changing aircraft needs. It does not automatically mean lower prices or guaranteed last-minute availability; the advantage to assess is buying each itinerary separately.
How do you compare the annual cost?
Use the same travel schedule and a fully specified pricing basis. Do not compare a card’s hourly number with an incomplete charter estimate.
- Collect complete on-demand totals for representative trips, including positioning and itinerary-specific charges.
- Ask the card provider to calculate those trips using its minimum time, taxi-time, and other billing rules.
- Include relevant joining, renewal, peak-period, fuel, tax, and outside-area amounts where they apply.
- Calculate a second scenario with fewer flights and review expiry, rollover, and refund provisions.
For example, a traveler expecting regular short flights should ask how each short segment is billed. A traveler with one annual long-haul holiday should check whether the program’s service area and aircraft fit that journey. These examples explain the method; they are not a published break-even threshold.
Which contract questions matter before prepaying?
Understand the access promise and the treatment of your money before committing. A published membership benefit is not a substitute for the terms attached to your specific product.
| Topic | Question |
|---|---|
| Access | How much notice is required, and what changes on peak dates? |
| Cancellation | When can I change or cancel, and what is charged? |
| Aircraft problem | What replacement obligation exists, and can the price change? |
| Funds | Are unused funds refundable, where are they held, and what protections are documented? |
| Exit | What expires, renews automatically, or changes at renewal? |

Frequently asked questions
Are jet cards always fixed-rate?
No. Published programs include both fixed-rate cards and deposit-based models with different pricing structures. Read the specific agreement. Surf On Demand ↗ Paramount Business Jets ↗
How many hours make a jet card worthwhile?
There is no universal break-even number. Route length, billing minimums, peak dates, aircraft needs, fees, and unused-funds terms can change the comparison.
Does prepaid access mean any aircraft at any time?
No. Examine the contract’s aircraft categories, notice periods, service areas, peak-date provisions, and substitution terms. Ask the provider to explain your actual travel scenarios.
