Other airports to compare near Salt Lake City
Compare these airports against the final address, ground transfer and aircraft proposal. Distances are not driving times, and the closest airfield is not necessarily suitable for the flight.
Where do private passengers arrive at SLC?
Go to the FBO named on your flight confirmation. Salt Lake City’s private aviation facilities occupy the east side of the airport, separate from the airline passenger journey. The airport lists Atlantic and Signature there, with services including ground transport, rental cars and catering. Salt Lake City Department of Airports ↗
Atlantic publishes its address as 369 N 2370 W. Share the confirmed FBO address with everyone in the party and with your driver; entering only “Salt Lake City airport” into navigation can send a car to the wrong arrival point. Atlantic Aviation ↗
Ask the charter coordinator to confirm where the car will meet you, whether passengers arriving separately should wait inside, and how a late-arriving guest will be handled. A private departure is easier to coordinate when the aircraft, passengers and chauffeur all use the same meeting instructions.
Choose the transfer by resort, not just by “Salt Lake City”
The final destination changes the road journey considerably. Park City, an Alta lodge and a downtown Salt Lake City hotel are different transfer requests. Give the driver the actual property entrance and your equipment list before choosing the vehicle.
| Destination | Local planning point | What to arrange |
|---|---|---|
| Downtown Salt Lake City | A city transfer rather than a mountain resort journey | Exact hotel or office entrance and a traffic-aware pickup plan |
| Alta or Snowbird | Little Cottonwood Canyon, SR-210 | Road-status check and suitable space for skis |
| Brighton or Solitude | Big Cottonwood Canyon, SR-190 | Correct canyon and resort access instructions |
| Park City or Deer Valley | A separate resort destination from the Cottonwood Canyons | Hotel-specific transfer, with a return pickup buffer |
UDOT identifies the resorts in each Cottonwood Canyon and notes that individual resorts have their own parking arrangements. Confirm the current arrangements if you plan to drive yourself. Utah Department of Transportation ↗
A cleared runway does not settle the mountain transfer
Check the mountain road plan as carefully as the flight. UDOT can close Big and Little Cottonwood Canyon roads for avalanche mitigation and can restrict uphill travel when traffic and parking capacity require it. A successful landing at SLC does not establish that your resort road is open. Utah Department of Transportation ↗
Atlantic lists deicing and heated hangar facilities at SLC. These services are useful planning options, but the operator must confirm what is available for your aircraft and whether the quote includes the associated costs. Atlantic Aviation ↗
For a winter departure, ask who monitors the resort pickup, who can move the departure time, and what happens if the party cannot leave the canyon as planned. Decide whether staying near the airport the previous night makes sense when a fixed onward commitment leaves little flexibility.
Check ski-bag dimensions before choosing the cabin
Choose the aircraft using the baggage list as well as the passenger count. Four people with long ski bags, boot bags and large winter cases create a different loading question from four people carrying weekend luggage.
Send the operator the number, length and approximate weight of equipment bags. Ask whether the proposed aircraft’s baggage opening and compartment will accommodate them, and whether essential items can remain accessible in the cabin. Request a comparable aircraft with more baggage capacity if the loading plan is uncertain; an attractive seat count alone does not answer the question.
For a dog, include its size and any carrier dimensions when requesting the flight and ground vehicle. Our guide to flying privately with large dogs explains the questions to resolve before committing.
What to include in an SLC charter request
Send the route, preferred dates and times, passenger total, resort or city address, and a complete baggage list. Ask for the FBO name, transfer arrangement and treatment of winter services in the written proposal.
For a return trip, specify whether the aircraft should wait, stay overnight or be replaced by another aircraft for the journey home. Compare the whole itinerary and its change terms. Start with the Salt Lake City charter guide, and use the first private flight checklist to prepare passenger details.
Flying private through SLC
For Salt Lake City International Airport, ask the operating provider to name the FBO or handler, passenger meeting point and vehicle entrance. Confirm the facility for each direction before arranging a driver.

Frequently asked questions
Will my driver meet me at the main SLC terminal?
Use the confirmed FBO meeting point. The airport places its general aviation facilities on the east side, so a driver should receive the specific private terminal address.
Can I assume a ski transfer will take the same time every trip?
No. Your resort, traffic and winter road conditions change the journey. Ask the transfer company for a date-specific plan and have the coordinator check canyon conditions.
Should I bring skis or rent at the resort?
Compare convenience with the aircraft’s baggage capacity and the size of your ground vehicle. If you bring equipment, obtain approval for the actual bag dimensions before booking.
