Other airports to compare near San Antonio
Compare these airports against the final address, ground transfer and aircraft proposal. Distances are not driving times, and the closest airfield is not necessarily suitable for the flight.
When should you choose SAT for a private charter?
SAT is a relevant starting point for a San Antonio charter request because the airport supports business and general aviation alongside commercial operations. Its position north of downtown gives you a clear geographic reference, but not a promised driving time. Federal Aviation Administration ↗
Tell the broker whether the trip is for a downtown hotel, the River Walk, a business appointment or a resort outside the center. A general request for “San Antonio” leaves the most useful part of the ground plan unspecified. Our San Antonio charter guide covers the wider destination decision.
If the itinerary includes Austin as well, compare the full sequence of meetings before choosing the return airport. Include any additional positioning and ground transport in that comparison.
At SAT, North and South are meaningful FBO details
Signature operates separately listed North and South terminals at SAT. These are private aviation locations with different street addresses; neither should be confused with an airline-terminal pickup instruction.
| Private terminal example | Published address | What your itinerary should state |
|---|---|---|
| Signature North | 557 Sandau Road | North terminal and the agreed passenger meeting point. Signature Aviation ↗ |
| Signature South | 1115 Paul Wilkins Road | South terminal and the agreed passenger meeting point. Signature Aviation ↗ |
This comparison helps prevent an arrival error; it is not a complete list of SAT handling providers. Use whichever FBO the operator confirms for your aircraft. If a booking simply says “Signature SAT,” ask for North or South before sending the address to your driver.
Arrange assistance, a waiting room or any ramp-side vehicle access in advance. Do not assume those arrangements transfer automatically if the aircraft changes terminals.
Plan downtown and resort journeys separately
A downtown visit and a resort stay need different ground instructions. Signature North highlights the Alamo and River Walk as local destinations, while the FAA places SAT north of downtown. Use that geography to brief the car provider, then obtain a route estimate for the actual arrival time. Signature Aviation ↗ Federal Aviation Administration ↗
For a River Walk hotel, send the street-level reception entrance rather than a riverside map pin. For a conference, specify the attendee entrance and whether bags need to go to the hotel first. For an out-of-center resort, provide the complete property address and any gate instructions.
If a group splits between a hotel and a meeting, book the vehicles accordingly. Include golf cases, large suitcases and child seats in the vehicle request. The ground transfer should be designed for the same party and baggage load as the aircraft.
Ask whether airport fees are included in the charter total
SAT distinguishes airport landing and customs fees from charges collected by an FBO. The airport says Vector Airport Systems manages its landing and customs billing, while FBO fees are separate. A handling charge on a proposal therefore should not be assumed to include every airport charge. San Antonio Airport System ↗
Ask the broker for a clear statement of what is included, what is estimated and what can be billed afterward. Useful line items include positioning, landing, parking, FBO handling, customs where applicable, catering and the car. Compare proposals on the same route, dates and passenger assumptions.
For a multi-day stay, ask whether the aircraft remains locally and whether overnight costs are included. Our private jet charter fees guide explains how to review these items without confusing an hourly rate with the trip total.
Confirm international handling and the complete passenger load
For an international arrival, request a confirmed clearance plan with the operator. Signature North advertises customs and immigration capability, and SAT publishes a customs fee schedule, but neither establishes an approved slot or final total for your flight. Signature Aviation ↗ San Antonio Airport System ↗
Send the operator passenger and baggage details early, including pets, oversize cases and mobility needs. Ask it to confirm the proposed aircraft's usable luggage space and boarding arrangements. A group bringing golf equipment should have that equipment reflected in the aircraft selection and ground-car booking.
Before confirming, obtain one itinerary with the operator, aircraft, SAT FBO address, requested services and ground pickup. Review the first-time private flying guide if the party is new to charter. Request a San Antonio charter quote with the final destination and all required stops.
Flying private through SAT
For San Antonio International Airport, ask the operating provider to name the FBO or handler, passenger meeting point and vehicle entrance. Confirm the facility for each direction before arranging a driver.

Frequently asked questions
Do private passengers at SAT use airline check-in?
Follow the named FBO instructions supplied by the operator. SAT has separate private-terminal addresses, including Signature North on Sandau Road and Signature South on Paul Wilkins Road. Do not navigate to airline check-in unless the operator specifically instructs you to. Signature Aviation ↗ Signature Aviation ↗
Does an SAT FBO handling fee include the airport landing fee?
Not necessarily. The airport states that its landing and customs billing is separate from applicable FBO charges. Ask the broker to identify which charges the charter quote includes. San Antonio Airport System ↗
Can a charter combine San Antonio and Austin meetings?
Ask for a multi-stop or open-jaw itinerary using the exact appointment addresses and timing. Compare the added flight and positioning costs with the ground journey before deciding; a second flight is not automatically the faster overall plan.
